My name is Pete Sanchez.  I have first hand knowledge of the interests and concerns of the people of CD2 and this city, because I am not only a community activist in the district, I am a long-term resident and your neighbor. I have lived in Valley Village for 17 years. I am not a career politician.

I actually work as a Claims Audit Manager for an insurance company. For my entire adult life I have made service to my community a priority. My family instilled participation in volunteer oriented activities and it is at the core of who I am.

My level of community commitment inspired the stakeholders to elect me as the first President of the Neighborhood Council Valley Village (serving from 2003 – 2006). Now my service to the neighborhood continues, as president of the Valley Village Homeowners Association (servicing from 2007 to the present). This experience has sharpened my understanding of how important every local issue is to our entire community.

As a community leader, I have demonstrated my leadership by being at the forefront of issues that have challenged my neighborhood and the city. I have always encouraged working together with elected official, government agencies and other neighborhood groups to determine what best serves the community. As both a community leader and in my professional life, I am driven to listen to the facts, strive for the most effective solutions and work to solve problems.

I know our district’s problems and frustrations because I live here, and have lived here for nearly two decades. I already have, and continue to exercise, commitment to serving my community. I eagerly want to extend this commitment and dedication to the entire of District 2 and the city.

Our city is at a crossroads, and is currently facing its greatest financial challenge of record. As your City Councilmember I will be a driving force for change. I will push for more fiscal responsibility and accountability. I’ll need - and want your help - to keep me in touch, keep me informed and keep me in check. Remember, your city councilmember is responsible to you!

As your City Council member, I can promise to make sure this district has a strong, competent and committed voice. I will be your voice. I will show up, stand up, and speak up.  I will listen, act and work for you!
